Stay Safe While Attending Treasure Mountain Festival

On the third weekend in September, the Town of Franklin, with a population of 721, hosts the annual Treasure Mountain Festival. Estimates show that over 30,000 people will attend this year’s Festival.

We offer these tips to stay safe while attending the Treasure Mountain Festival:

  1. Stay alert at all times. Pedestrians and children will be everywhere and traffic will be heavy. Always pay attention to the road and be on the lookout for pedestrians and children. Remember, pedestrians have the right of way at crosswalks, and motorists must yield. For pedestrians, never assume that if you can see a vehicle they can see you.
  2. Have a designated meeting place if you get separated. It is easy to get separated from others in a large crowd. Before you go out, establish a designated meeting place in the event that you get separated.
  3. Secure your vehicle. Always lock your vehicle and take your keys. Make sure to keep valuables out of plain view. Do not park in areas with “no parking” signs.
  4. Don’t drink and drive. It is not worth it. If you choose to drink, designate a sober person to be the driver.

We hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable time at the Treasure Mountain Festival.
